Scottsdale, Arizona — November 12, 2005 — Scottsdale-based Rhino Sports®, Inc., the fastest-growing athletic court manufacturer in the U.S., has become the official provider of basketball court flooring for the new reality show, Pros vs. Joes.
The show, scheduled to premiere on Spike TV in Spring 2006, pits amateur athletes against well-known sports professionals like NFL legends Jerry Rice and Tony Dorsett, former NBA players Karl Malone and Dominique Wilkins, and female athletes like soccer star Brandi Chastain and softball ace Jennie Finch.
In each episode, three "Joes" compete against five “Pros” in a series of athletic challenges for a chance to win season tickets to their favorite team's games. And in the finale, the top-performing Joes vie for an incredible sports fantasy prize package.
Rhino President John Shaffer says that the show is a perfect fit for his rapidly expanding company. “We’re all a bunch of regular Joes around here, who like to think we’re hot stuff,” Shaffer says. “While most of our business is focused on providing healthy environments that encourage kids to get out of the house and play, we know that lots of guys use our courts to relive their glory days and dream about what could have been.”
The Rhino Court installation team for Pros vs. Joes included Bob Hemming, National Sales Manager; Joe Kreigbaum, Local Sales/Dealer Support; Eric Keef, Project Manager; and Ted Waldrup, the Rhino Dealer in Orange County. They installed a top-of-the-line, professional Rhino Court® for the series.
Though Hemming says that he really enjoyed the "Hollywood experience,” it was the show itself that really hit home. “It looked like a lot of fun," said Hemming. “I really wanted to get out there and have a go at the pros.”
He may get his chance: Spike TV is currently auditioning “regular Joes.” When asked if he might audition, Hemming smiled. “I’m not sure it would be fair," he said. “After all, I’d have a home court advantage.” |
