Rhino Sports™ Helps Make 2007 FBR Open "The Greatest Show on Grass"
Scottsdale, Arizona, February 1-4, 2007 – Rhino Sports was proud to be part of the 2007 FBR Open experience, featuring two of its synthetic greens at the event. Sponsors of a putting contest, Rhino Sports sent winners home with 10 grand prizes, including a new Harley Davidson motorcycle and a Rhino putting green installed at one lucky winner’s home.
Contest participants marveled at the natural grass feel of the synthetic material. Tournament front-runner Jeff Quinney was also spotted practicing on one of the Rhino Sports greens. Designed for long-term, heavy use, the greens are installed on a solid, firm base that's constructed for proper drainage and ideal play. The turf is filled with a composite material providing true ball roll and response.
The FBR Open has gained legendary status for being unlike any other golf tournament. Hosted on the beautiful TPC Scottsdale course, and attracting some of the biggest names in golf, including Phil Mickelson, Vijay Singh, and 2007 FBR winner Aaron Baddeley, the combination of great golf play and an amazing spectator experience attract the biggest galleries on the PGA Tour. In between the golf and the galleries are The Thunderbirds. Hosts of the Open since 1939, this group of local businessmen have turned an ordinary "golf tournament" into a community event/happening -- commonly referred to as "The Greatest Show on Grass" -- and along the way have raised close to $46 million for Arizona charities.
